What should I expect during my first therapy session?
Your first session is an intake appointment where your therapist will get to know you, understand your concerns, discuss your goals, and collaboratively develop a treatment plan. Sessions are typically 50-60 minutes via secure telehealth video or phone. Come prepared to discuss what brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve.
Can I choose my own therapist and change providers if needed?
Yes! You can view clinician profiles and credentials in our booking system and select the provider who best fits your needs. If you feel the match isn't right after your first session, you can always switch to a different therapist—we want you to feel comfortable and supported throughout your care journey.
How quickly can I get an appointment? What if I need urgent support?
Most clients can schedule within 1-2 weeks, though availability varies by clinician and service type. For urgent mental health crises, please call 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or visit your nearest emergency room. MiraLife provides ongoing care, not emergency crisis intervention.
What do I need for a telehealth appointment?
You'll need a device with internet access (computer, tablet, or smartphone), a webcam and microphone, and a private, quiet space where you can speak freely. We use HIPAA-compliant video platforms accessible directly through your browser—no software downloads required. You'll receive a secure link before your appointment.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed appointments without notice, may incur a late cancellation fee (typically the full session rate). You can easily reschedule through your MiraLife client dashboard.
